Anthropology is becoming an increasingly popular field of study as a strong surge of anthropologists are now used in consumer research. Rita Denny, PhD, anthropologist of consumer culture, will stress the importance of this concept as the lead presenter in the speaker series, “Dangerous Territory: Social Research Out of Bounds,” on Friday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m in the Lecture Hall at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA).
Denny is a founding partner of Practica Group, LLC, where she specializes in American consumer culture. Denny worked with the DIA on restructuring its advertising campaign and will reflect on the concept of consumer research as she shares personal experiences of her work with the DIA. She has demonstrated her work with the DIA as a case study to enlighten the role of anthropological analysis.
